[Bio] Chung-Liang Chang receives the B.S. degree in Industrial Education from National Taiwan Normal University, Taipei, Taiwan, in 1998. He has M.S. and the Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the National Cheng Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan, in 2004 and 2008, respectively. He works as part-time teacher in Department of Avionics Electronics Engineering of Air Force Institute of Technology in Taiwan, 2009. Since August 2009, he has been with the Department of Biomechatronics Engineering at National Pingtung University of Science and Technology and is currently a Professor. He participated in the Refinement Project for Engineering Program and Common Laboratory (98-99 Annual Teaching Excellence Project for University of Science and Technology) in 2010. He is reserve referee (mechatronics), Council of National Olympic Skill Competition, Taiwan (2009-now). In 2010, he was the executive for the Third Cup of Field Robot Race in NPUST, Taiwan.
He coached college students in 2010 to earn First Place, Third Place and Excellent Work Award for Third Cup of Field Robot Race. Also, he coached college students in 2012 to earn Excellent Work Award for 7th digital signal processing creative design contest (Embedded platform design group). In addition, he also leads student to win Third place in Competition and Exhibition of Innovations in Green Energy (in the year 2012). In 2015, he coached college students to earn Second Prize for 2015 Asia Pacific Agriculture Undergraduate Student Project Competition. He has also won the gold medal for Taipei Int'l Invention Show & Technomart in 2017. He has received College of Engineering of NPUST Teacher of Merit Award and Annual Teaching Excellence Award in 2010 and 2013, respectively.
During 2012-2015, he hosted an industry-university cooperative research project of MOST, which focuses on greenhouse engineering and related techniques (such as LED lighting in horticulture, IoT-based environmental control, evaluating and monitoring plant response, etc.) and several technology transfer have been completed. He currently serves a leader of Intelligent Agriculture Production Technology Alliance at the Pingtung University of Science and Technology. He is also an editor board member of Journal of Biomechatronics Engineering, Journal of Engineer, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, The Scientific World Journal: Communications and Networking, etc. During 2013-2014, he served as a lead guest editor for International Journal of Antennas and Propagation. He has been a session chair and TPC member for numerous conferences. He is also a reviewer for several international journals and international/domestic conferences, respectively.
Dr. Chang received the Special Talents Reward by MOST of Taiwan in 2013-2015. In 2017, he was awarded "Agricultural Machinery Achievement Award" presented by CIAM. He was given the Phi-Tau-Phi scholarship award in 2009, and also selected for inclusion in the 2010-2013 edition Marquis Who’s Who in the World, Marquis Who’s Who in Science and Engineering (11th Edition), IBC Top 100 Educators (2010), IBC Top 100 Engineers (2010), 2000 Outstanding Intellectuals of the 21st Century (2010). He is a senior member of IEEE (USA, since 2012), member of Institute of Navigation (ION), ASABE, ASHS, IEICE Communications Society (ended in 2019), TIBM, CIAM, TAIROA, life member of Chinese Automation Control Society (CACS), Chinese Institute of Engineers (CIE, ended in 2021), Chinese Institute of Automation Engineers (CIAE), etc. His main research interests include autonomous agriculture BIO-robot design, greenhouses (growth chambers), antenna array signal processing, and modern GNSS receivers design.
